Abstract

The importance of the present research lies in the most important training methods, including the longitudinal method and its relationship to develop the speed-specific strength and the skills of passing and trapping the ball in football. As for the research problem, the researcher tends to find new methods and techniques that improve the youth players’ physical skills.  One of these styles is the longitudinal training method. As far as the objectives of the study are concerned, they are to prepare exercises in the longitudinal training method and identify them in developing the speed-specific strength of passing and trapping skills. The researcher used the experimental method to suit the problem. The sample was selected from the youth players of Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya Club, consisting of (20) players from the football season (2023-2024). The most important conclusions were that the use of the longitudinal training method has a significant impact on the strength characterized by speed and the skills of passing and trapping the ball for the experimental group. The clear progressing of the experimental group over the control group indicates the success of using the longitudinal training method.
