Optimism and Its Relationship to Motor Intelligence Among Boxing Club Players in Diyala Governorate
Main Article Content
Abstract
Having the necessary abilities alone is not sufficient for an athlete to achieve goals and success unless they also possess a sense of optimism, anticipate success in advance, and experience moments of hope. Success experiences are closely linked to an individual’s self-esteem and self-appreciation. The higher the self-esteem, the greater the impact of success experiences on intelligence. According to Ahola Sibo and Elin John, intelligence is expressed as the degree of happiness an individual attains by fulfilling their needs directly or indirectly through experiences and situations encountered while engaging in recreational activities.
From this perspective, the researchers aimed to study the practical importance of the relationship between motor intelligence and optimism in boxing. The research problem lies in the lack of sufficient attention to the psychological preparation necessary for sports achievement, which plays a crucial role in success and excellence. Optimism and motor intelligence are considered key starting points for understanding human behavior.
The current study aims to examine the relationship between optimism and motor intelligence in boxing. The researchers adopted a descriptive approach and identified the study population as advanced-level boxing players from Iraqi clubs, totaling 125 athletes. The primary research sample included boxing clubs from Diyala that participated in the aforementioned championship, consisting of 58 boxers, representing 46.4% of the total population. Six clubs were selected for the main experiment, comprising 51 players, which accounted for 87.93% of the original population. The Al-Shaheed Arkan club, with 7 boxers (12% of the total population), was excluded as they were chosen for the exploratory study.
