Publication Guidelines
The Journal of Sport Sciences receives original scientific manuscripts in the fields of physical education, sport sciences, sports rehabilitation, and sports management, provided that the submitted work adheres to the principles of scientific research, has not been previously published, and is not under consideration by any other journal or publication venue. All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening, followed by peer review by specialized experts in accordance with the principles of academic integrity and publication ethics.
First: Manuscript Submission Requirements
Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the manuscript submission form available on the journal’s website. Authors are required to upload a Word version of the manuscript and, when necessary, a PDF version. The manuscript must include complete author information, including full name, institutional affiliation, official or institutional email address where available, phone number, and clear identification of the corresponding author. The manuscript must be written in clear academic language, free from linguistic and methodological errors, and must comply with the journal’s requirements regarding formatting, page limits, and reference style. The journal is not responsible for delays resulting from incomplete submissions, non-compliance with the journal’s guidelines, or delayed author revisions.
Second: Publication Fees and Page Limit
The publication fee for authors from inside Iraq is IQD 100,000. For authors from outside Iraq, the publication fee is USD 100. The manuscript should not exceed 15 pages according to the approved journal template. If the manuscript exceeds this limit, an additional fee of IQD 2,500 shall be charged for each extra page, subject to the approval of the Editorial Board.
Third: Manuscript Structure
The manuscript should be organized according to the following structure:
1.Title of the manuscript in Arabic and English.
2.Names of authors, institutional affiliations, and email addresses.
3.Abstract in Arabic and English, clearly stating the aim, methodology, main results, and conclusions of the study.
4.Keywords in Arabic and English.
5. Introduction, including the background of the study, its significance, research problem, objectives, hypotheses or research questions, and a concise review of relevant previous studies supported by recent scientific references.
6. Research methodology and field procedures, including the research design, population and sample, data collection tools, applied procedures, and statistical methods.
7. Presentation, analysis, and discussion of results, with tables and figures organized clearly and linked directly to the objectives and problem of the study.
8. Conclusion, including findings and recommendations derived directly from the results of the study. 9. References, formatted according to the journal’s approved referencing style.
Fourth: Manuscript Formatting
Arabic manuscripts should be written in Simplified Arabic, font size 16 for main headings and font size 14 for the main text. English manuscripts should be written in a clear academic font such as Times New Roman, font size 12 for the main text, while maintaining consistent formatting for headings, tables, figures, and margins according to the journal template. Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively, provided with clear titles, and cited in the text before they appear. Tables and figures should be original, clear, and properly documented when adapted from other sources, with permission obtained where required.
Fifth: Referencing Style
The journal adopts the author–date citation system within the text, with page numbers included in cases of direct quotation. All references must be listed at the end of the manuscript in a single, properly formatted reference list according to the journal’s approved style. Arabic references should be translated or romanized into English in the reference list, with an indication that the source is in Arabic where necessary.
Sixth: Peer Review and Publication Procedures
Submitted manuscripts are first screened by the Editorial Board to ensure their relevance to the journal’s scope, compliance with publication guidelines, and adherence to scientific integrity requirements. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to specialized reviewers for scientific evaluation. The final publication decision is based on reviewers’ reports and the decision of the Editorial Board. Accepted manuscripts are published according to the sequence of completion of all scientific, editorial, and technical requirements. The journal reserves the right to decline or discontinue the processing of manuscripts that do not comply with the publication guidelines or whose authors fail to submit the required revisions within the specified period.
