Psychological Hesitation and Its Relationship to Cognitive and Skill Achievement among Female Students in Freestyle Swimming

Abstract

1- To identify the relationship between psychological hesitation and cognitive and skill achievement of first-stage female students in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Salahaddin University, Erbil.

The researcher used a descriptive approach in the style of correlational studies. The research sample and society consisted of female students who learned to swim and the researcher used questionaries’ of psychological tension and cognitive achievement and conducted research tests for basic skills in free swimming. The researcher came to some results.

Here are the most important ones:

  1. The results showed that there are significant differences between the mean and the hypothetical mean of the measure of psychological frequency and cognitive achievement among first-year female students in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Salahaddin University in Erbil.
  2. The data showed that there is a strong link between the psychological hesitation scale and some of the most basic swimming skills.

The study came up with the following suggestions:

  1. The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences should concentrate on developing psychological programs that will assist female students feel less anxious about freestyle swimming.
  2. The female instructors must continuously encourage the female students when they are taking swimming lessons.
