Abstract

Abstract:

Mental maps are one of the modern learning strategies and visual education tools that help to strengthen memory، retrieve information and generate creative ideas for learners.  There is a strong relationship between learning strategies and perceptive styles. Thus، teachers need to recognize and identify them among learners to provide a better learning environment by knowing the ways of processing information. The nature of analytical individuals shows that they have high degree of attention and interest in scientific processes and procedures in doing things by following step-by-step programs، while globalized individuals prefer the scrutiny that leads to a global impression، including emotional experiences in making decisions.  Cognitive achievement considers one of the important stages that teachers aim in order to deepen the base of store of information for developing the general capabilities of students.  Thus، every student should have the sports information and knowledge of the game laws he or she plays. The law aspect of volleyball is an    important part and cannot be neglected because it links the third and fourth stage students in Sports college and shows their understanding the laws of the game as well as the control of performance in the practical tests to obtain scores in volleyball in the third stage. The research problem states that the educational curricula of volleyball do not have the mental map strategy in which the student is an important element in the learning process، whereas information given in a traditional teaching method lacks stimuli that raise students’ interest.

The research aims to prepare educational units according to the mental maps strategy to identify its impact on the global perceptive students versus analytical students in scientific knowledge and the accuracy in decision-making while following the laws of volleyball. The research hypothesizes there are statistically significant differences between the pre and post-tests in the impact of the mental maps strategy for the global perceptive students versus the analytical students in scientific knowledge and the accuracy of decision-making in the laws of volleyball. There are also statistically significant differences in impact of the research variables for the global perceptive students in post-tests between the experimental and control groups after the applying of the experimental approach for two groups in the scientific knowledge and the accuracy of decision-making tests.  After doing the data analysis، the findings show that are positive impact of the mental maps strategy for the global perceptive students versus the analytical students in scientific knowledge and the accuracy of decision-making in the laws of volleyball.  Second it is more likely to have positive results in post-tests than in the case of applying the traditional curriculum for the sample. Thus، the researchers recommend to use the strategy of mental maps for the global perceptive students in the field in volleyball.
